Hazardous Waste - Chemical Removal

Chemicals identified as having an expired shelf life, having reached a retrograde condition, listed as prohibited, or listed as restricted are identified for removal. The chemical removal list is generated from the chemical survey conducted in the science laboratory's storeroom. MSES chemists classify, segregate, containerize, label, and prepare waste profiles for the selected disposal facilities, and complete the Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest and the Land Ban Certification Forms so that packed drums can be transported to a hazardous waste incinerator.

The chemicals retained are listed in the Reconciled Chemical Inventory report produced by CCS and are then organized into organic and inorganic families based on Flinn's Compatible Chemical Family Codes or adhering to the national Fire Protection Association recommendations for the proper storage of hazardous materials.
